LAHORE:Housing Department has decided to increase manpower and machinery in districts to ensure timely completion of the Punjab Development Plan (PDP).
This was decided in a meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin held to review the progress of Wasa development projects under the Punjab Development Plan.Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal and DG Wasa Punjab Tayyab Fareed gave a detailed briefing on the performance of various districts.
During the meeting, it was decided to increase manpower and machinery in districts to ensure the timely completion of the Punjab Development Plan.Companies found responsible for slow progress or use of substandard materials will be blacklisted. Due to the rainy situation, the pace of work in several districts has been increased to 24 hours, along with regular monitoring. In the initial phase, it has also been decided to construct Wasa complexes in 15 cities across Punjab.
The provincial minister directed all Wasa managing directors to immediately launch a desilting campaign. The minister stated that increasing the depth and width of existing drains and protecting populations from flooding is the top priority. Targets in 15 districts will be completed on time, keeping emergency conditions in mind.
He emphasised that timely drainage of rainwater and addressing challenges in desilting are key responsibilities. Managing directors of Wasa from 15 districts participated in the meeting via video link.
