ISLAMABAD: In an anticipated move, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday postponed its public rally at Liaquat Bagh on Thursday (today) to protest the removal of its government in 2022.
The PTI political committee took the decision in an emergency meeting in view of the country’s political situation, especially the recent important changes and developments in the region.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and senior party officials attended the meeting. The forum considered the progress concerning the two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran and welcomed this milestone.
It was noted that Pakistan was hosting a very important meeting between the parties regarding a permanent ceasefire in Islamabad on April 10 and that this meeting was of crucial importance for global and regional peace. Keeping in view this important international context, the regional situation and diplomatic efforts to save the entire region from the effects of war, the Political Committee decided to postpone the rally to be held at Liaquat Bagh on April 9.
The meeting was told that Imran Khan had also sent a message through Barrister Salman Safdar that the rally should be postponed in view of the current situation, which was also expressed by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan during his speech in the National Assembly.
