Sindh Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Secretary General Sardar Abdul Rahim on Wednesday launched a blistering attack on the ruling set-up in the province saying bad governance, corruption and institutional decay had pushed Karachi to the brink, depriving residents of clean drinking water, basic municipal services and sense of security.

Addressing the media at the Functional House on the occasion of inclusion of leaders and workers from various political, religious and social groups in the party, Rahim said Karachi — the country’s economic lifeline — had been reduced to a portrait of urban decay and official neglect.

He said the rulers had squandered public resources, hollowed out institutions and presided over the steady collapse of civic infrastructure, leaving the city’s population to endure deepening hardship. “People do not even have access to clean drinking water, let alone other essential civic amenities,” he said, adding that the worsening law and order situation had compounded public misery.

The PML-F leader said his party’s politics, inspired by the Pir Pagara’s slogan ‘United Sindh, Strong Pakistan’ was aimed at uniting people, resolving their problems and putting the country back on a stable footing. He claimed growing public frustration with the present order was reflected in the increasing number of people joining the PML-F from Karachi and beyond.
