PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Health, Khaliq Ur Rehman, on Wednesday launched the second phase of the 2026 polio eradication campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by administering polio drops to children.

On this occasion, the minister stated that a target has been set to vaccinate 6.5 million children across the province during the second phase of the campaign. He added that over 35,500 polio teams have been deployed to ensure door-to-door vaccination of children.

The minister said that strict security arrangements have been put in place for the campaign, with more than 50,000 security personnel deployed to support and protect the polio teams, ensuring smooth execution of the drive. He reaffirmed that the KP government is fully committed to making the province completely polio-free.

The minister expressed satisfaction that not a single case of polio has been reported so far this year, reflecting the effectiveness of the government’s strategy. He noted that the polio eradication program is successfully achieving its targets and moving in the right direction.

The minister urged the parents, teachers, religious scholars, and all segments of society to fully cooperate with polio teams and ensure that their children receive polio drops, contributing to this national cause.
