LAHORE: Fast bowler Naseem Shah has been ruled out of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) for an indefinite period after sustaining an injury during Rawalpindi Pindiz’s match against Karachi Kings.
The franchise confirmed the setback, stating that medical staff will closely monitor his rehabilitation and expressing hope that he may return later in the tournament once fully fit. Naseem’s absence is a major blow for Rawalpindi, who have struggled to find momentum in PSL 11. His pace and wicket-taking ability have been central to the team’s bowling attack, and losing him at this stage leaves a significant gap in their lineup. Team officials have not specified the nature of the injury or the expected recovery timeline, but optimism remains that he could rejoin the squad in the latter stages of the competition.
The injury comes on the heels of disciplinary action taken against Naseem by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He was fined Rs20 million and issued a show-cause notice after a controversial social media post targeting Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Naseem later issued a public apology, clarifying that the post did not reflect his personal views and had been shared by a member of his management team.
Despite the controversy and now the injury setback, Rawalpindi franchise officials have reaffirmed their support for Naseem. They emphasized that the pacer remains a valued member of the squad and assured him of full backing during his rehabilitation process. Naseem Shah’s indefinite absence adds to Rawalpindi’s challenges in PSL 11, depriving them of one of their strike bowlers at a crucial stage.
