GUJRANWALA: An accused who was allegedly involved in raping minor girls was killed during an alleged ‘encounter’ with Khiali police on Sunday.
Reportedly, the accused was killed by the firing of his own accomplices. Police said that the deceased accused had a record in serious incidents such as kidnapping and selling children and raping girls. The deceased accused had kidnapped a 13-year-old girl from Khiali area on April 3, 2026, at gunpoint while she was going to a Madrassa and allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The accused was on physical remand and was killed by the firing of his own accomplices while trying to escape from police custody, the police claimed.CPO Dr Sardar Ghias said that zero-tolerance policy for crimes against women and children is being strictly implemented and law-breaking elements do not deserve any concessions.
DC REVIEWS CLEANLINESS CAMPAIGN: Under the ‘Suthra Punjab, Saaf Gujranwala’ campaign, Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed visited Sialkot Road to inspect cleanliness and drainage arrangements after recent rains.
He directed authorities to improve sanitation standards and ensure an effective drainage system to prevent problems for residents.The Deputy Commissioner also visited Model Town to assess restoration, renovation, and cleaning of green belts. He urged local traders to collaborate with the PHA by maintaining green belts and placing dustbins outside their businesses.
Additionally, he reviewed ongoing development works in Dal Bazaar and nearby areas. Projects include market expansion, construction of footpaths and sewerage drains, and installation of uniform fronts and signboards.
