Rawalpindi:Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has carried out a major operation against counterfeit cold drinks in Attock, seizing and destroying 574 liters of fake beverages, a spokesperson said on Sunday.
According to PFA spokesperson, the action was taken at a checkpoint set up in Dar-us-Salam Colony, where officials intercepted a vehicle transporting the counterfeit drinks. The seized products were found to be carrying fake labels and fraudulent branding of well-known beverage companies.
Samples of the beverages were sent to a laboratory for testing and were later declared unfit for consumption after failing quality standards. Authorities have registered an FIR against the accused at the relevant police station, and further investigations are underway.
The PFA spokesperson reiterated that a province-wide crackdown against fake and substandard cold drinks is ongoing to safeguard public health. Citizens have been urged to report any complaints or suspicious food items by contacting the PFA helpline at 1223.
