Rawalpindi:Security has been heightened across Rawalpindi on the occasion of Easter as more than 2,100 police personnel deployed to ensure safety at churches and other sensitive locations.
Under the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani, a comprehensive and foolproof security plan has been put in place, Police spokesman told on Sunday that full body searches were being conducted at entry points of churches to ensure the safety of worshipers during the religious festivities.
Over 100 traffic police officials have also been deployed at key points to maintain smooth flow of traffic, while senior officers are present in the field to personally supervise the arrangements.
Moreover, teams of Elite Force, Dolphin Force and police station mobiles are conducting continuous patrolling in sensitive areas to avert any untoward incident. Police personnel on duty have been directed to remain alert and keep a vigilant eye on their surroundings as well as suspicious individuals, the spokesman emphasized.
Officials have also been instructed to deal with citizens politely while ensuring strict security, adding that all available resources are being utilised to safeguard minority rights and maintain law and order.
