Rawalpindi:Director General Enforcement Punjab, Imran Qureshi, Friday said that under the leadership of the CM Punjab, the government has intensified its efforts to safeguard consumer rights by rolling out a modern digital price control system and launching a massive province-wide crackdown against violations.

While speaking to a TV channel, Imran Qureshi said that a digital ‘Qeemat App’ and toll-free numbers had been activated to facilitate consumers, enabling them to lodge complaints easily and even anonymously against overpricing and profiteering.

He emphasized that these systems were fully operational and designed to ensure quick response and transparency in addressing public grievances. He stated that under the strict directives of the CM Punjab, the Directorate was taking firm and uncompromising action against violators. The enforcement teams have intensified operations across the province, particularly targeting sugar hoarders and profiteers through coordinated raids and inspections to stabilize market prices and protect consumers.

Highlighting recent actions, he said the enforcement teams proceeded against multiple individuals involved in overpricing of vegetables and pulses, as well as hoarding practices. Several violations were detected, leading to the registration of two FIRs and the arrest of those found guilty, sending a clear message of zero tolerance against market manipulation, he said.

He further added that modern tools such as Geo-tagging, daily routine monitoring, and digital notifications were being utilized to strengthen enforcement. Close coordination is also being maintained with chambers of commerce and other relevant institutions to ensure effective implementation of price control measures under the vision of the CM Punjab, he added.

The DG Enforcement Punjab further added that modern tools such as Geo-tagging, daily monitoring, and automated alerts were being used to enhance enforcement efficiency. Strong coordination with chambers of commerce and other relevant institutions is also underway to ensure effective price regulation under the vision of the CM Punjab, with a firm commitment to strict accountability for violators and a technology-driven enforcement system, he expressed.
