ISLAMABAD: The federal government has appointed Muhammad Ali Randhawa, a Grade-20 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service, as Immigration and Passports director general, following a formal notification issued on Thursday.
Randhawa assumed his new duties after concluding his tenure as the Islamabad chief commissioner and chairman of the Capital Development Authority on April 1, 2026.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued a clear mandate for the new director general to implement comprehensive reforms aimed at overhauling the national passport and immigration infrastructure. The minister specifically directed that the entire system undergo full nationwide digitisation to eliminate bureaucratic delays.
