ISLAMABAD: A district court on Monday recorded statements of three more witnesses in the murder case of TikToker Sana Yousuf.

The hearing, conducted by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka, focused on cross-examination of key family members of Sana Yousaf – her mother Farzana Yousaf, father Yousaf Hassan, and her paternal aunt Bibi Latifa Shah.

During the proceedings, state counsel Raja Naveed Hussain appeared before the court and presented updates on the progress of the trial. Sana Yousuf’s mother was examined by the state council, wherein the victim’s mother said on the day of Sana Yousuf’s murder, she was at home all the day. At the time of the murder, Sana’s aunt was also present at home. The incident took place on June 2 around 5 pm, she added.

“I did not know that accused Omar Hayat had come before the incident. Hayat did not have WhatsApp chat or contact with me before the incident. I was in the TV lounge when the incident happened. I called Sana Yousuf’s father and informed him about the incident. I took Sana Yousuf to the hospital in Amina Baji’s car. The people of the lower storey of the house came out after hearing shouts about the murder of Sana Yousuf. When the accused Omar Hayat came, he did not cover his face. The accused was also recognised during identification parade in Adiala Jail,” Ms Farzana testified.

On the state counsel’s query, she denied any mismatch in her signatures, saying: “There is no contradiction in my signature on the statement under section 161 and the application.” Later, the cross-examination of Sana’s father Yousuf Hassan and aunt Bibi Latifa Shah was also completed.

According to court proceedings, a total of 28 witnesses have so far recorded their statements in the case. The court directed that more witnesses be presented on the next date of hearing of the case on March 31.
