QUETTA: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has postponed the by-election in constituency NA-256 Khuzdar following a request from the Balochistan government.
According to an official notification issued by the ECP, the by-election scheduled for April 5, 2026, has been postponed due to the prevailing law and order situation in Khuzdar. The notification stated that the Balochistan government had sought a delay in the polls, citing security concerns in the area, after which the commission decided to suspend the election schedule.
The ECP has directed the Chief Secretary of Balochistan and the Inspector General of Police, Balochistan, to appear personally before the commission and brief it on the law and order situation.
