LAHORE:The upgradation work at different sports facilities at Nishtar Park Sports Complex is under way in accordance with commitment of provincial government to moderniseall sports infrastructure.
In this regard, Vice Chairman of the Sports Board Punjab (SBP)Suleman Malik carried out an inspection of upgradationwork at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex on Monday.During the visit, Malik reviewed progress on three major projects: the upgradation of the swimming pool, the expansion of Punjab Stadium, and the construction of a new players’ hostel. He was briefed in detail by Director Admin AbidShaukat and Deputy Director Chaudhry Zahoor Ahmed, who provided technical updates and timelines for completion.
Speaking on this occasion, Malik said efforts are under way to attract younger generation towards healthy sports activities in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister. One of the key directives issued by Malik was the urgent completion of the swimming pool’s upgradation. He stressed that the facility must be ready for upcoming events and announced that a dedicated entrance from Ferozepur Road is being finalized to improve accessibility for athletes and citizens.
On the Punjab Stadium expansion, Malik emphasised that the project is being carried out in line with modern international standards, aiming to provide world-class facilities for athletes and spectators alike. He also highlighted the construction of a state-of-the-art players’ hostel within the complex, which will accommodate outstation players during national and international training camps.
Speaking about the broader vision, Malik reaffirmed the Sports Board Punjab’s commitment to athlete welfare and infrastructure development. “Every possible step is being taken for the development of sports in the province. Providing high-quality infrastructure is our top priority,” he stated.
