HIV clinic to be functional soon at LGH

LAHORE: Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC) MS LGH Prof Dr Faryad Hussain announced that in collaboration with the AIDS Control Programme and the Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department, a dedicated HIV clinic will soon be functional at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) to provide comprehensive diagnostic and guidance services free of charge.

He shared this information while speaking at the specialised training workshop on HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness organised by the Department of Pediatrics at Prof Agha Shabbir Ali Auditorium, LGH on Monday.

Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC) Principal Prof Dr Farooq Afzal said that health professionals must continuously upgrade their clinical expertise and adopt integrated strategies in line with evolving medical requirements to effectively protect children from fatal diseases.

Prof Farooq Afzal highlighted the necessity of proactive medical interventions for the younger generation. During the session, medical experts including Dr Quratulain, Azhar Hussain and Samar Naveed provided detailed briefings on pediatric care, safety protocols and modern clinical guidelines, while also informing participants about the free diagnostic facilities available at the BSL-3 laboratory under the Punjab AIDS Control Program.

Furthermore, Prof M Shahid and Prof DrFaryad Hussain lauded the consistent support of Dr Naveed Akhtar Malik, reaffirming the hospital's commitment to safeguarding child health.

Principal Prof Farooq Afzal commended the organising committee members - Dr Ayesha Iftikhar, DrHooriaRehman and Dr RabiaNajam for their successful execution of the awareness initiative.
