ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s national footballers have expressed confidence ahead of their AFC Qualifiers against Myanmar, as the training camp enters its final phase with players upbeat about their preparation, fitness and tactical readiness.
Speaking to the media, players Jeevan Khan, Shayek Dost, and Ali Raza highlighted the team’s progress during the camp and emphasised their determination to deliver a positive result.
Jeevan Khan termed the camp a valuable learning experience, crediting senior players for guiding younger teammates. “I have learned a great deal during this camp. Our senior players, especially Shayek Bhai, have been very supportive. God willing, we are hopeful of a good result,” he said.
Shayek Dost echoed similar sentiments, stating that the team has undergone intense training in recent days. “We are fully prepared and pumped up. All the boys are fit and ready. InshaAllah, we will try our best to achieve a positive result,” he remarked.
Ali Raza also expressed satisfaction over the team’s preparation, noting that players have worked collectively and studied their opponents closely. “We have analysed Myanmar and trained accordingly. We are confident of giving them a tough time and making Pakistan proud,” he added.
The players unanimously agreed that the squad is match-ready, with many having recently featured in competitive football, including overseas leagues and domestic tournaments. Jeevan pointed out that several players returning from international stints, along with participation in the National Challenge Cup, have ensured that the team remains in top shape.
Shayek Dost underlined the importance of this opportunity for local players, particularly with overseas-based footballers being rested. “This is a great chance for local talent to prove themselves. We are ready to step up and deliver,” he said.
Ali Raza highlighted the team’s adaptability to playing conditions, including heat and turf surfaces. “We have trained in similar conditions and are prepared to give our hundred percent,” he noted.
Reflecting on previous encounters against Myanmar, the players acknowledged improvements in both tactics and mindset under the current coaching setup. Jeevan Khan pointed out a shift from a defensive approach to a more attacking style of play. “Under the new coach, we are playing more positively. This is a different team now, and hopefully, the result will also be different,” he observed.
Shayek Dost described Myanmar as a competitive side but stressed that passion and energy could tilt the balance in Pakistan’s favour. Ali Raza added that the team’s attacking intent under the new system would be key to challenging the opposition. On the transition from the direct style often seen in domestic competitions to a more possession-based approach under the national coach, the players maintained that adaptability is not an issue. Jeevan explained that tactical decisions often depend on playing conditions, while Shayek emphasised the need for a structured league system to further refine playing styles. Ali Raza reinforced the team’s technical capability, stating that Pakistani players possess natural talent and can effectively implement a ground-passing game when conditions allow.
