BANNU: A head constable embraced martyrdom and three other personnel sustained injuries when terrorists attacked a police mobile in the Sheikhan Mamakhel area in the jurisdiction of Havaid Police Station here on Saturday.
Police officials said the attack occurred while the police team was on a routine duty. The assailants opened fire suddenly, prompting the police to respond with a strong counterattack.
During the exchange of fire, the officials said, Head Constable Dil Nawaz Khan was martyred, while Driver Amir Khan, Constable Inamullah and Constable Ziaullah sustained injuries. The attackers also set the police vehicle on fire after the assault. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan said that two terrorists were also killed and three others were injured in the police response. Additionally, the police seized two motorcycles used by the assailants. A search operation is currently underway in the area to track down any remaining terrorists.
