Wahab meets Japanese envoy, assures investors of cooperation in all sectors

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Saturday held a meeting with Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Akamatsu Shuichi, and discussed investment and urban development.

Officials said that the meeting was also attended by the consul general of Japan in Karachi and other senior officials.

Mayor Wahab welcomed the Japanese ambassador to Karachi and stated that Pakistan and Japan share long-standing and strong friendly relations, while Japan’s support for Pakistan and its people has always been exemplary.

He added that the people of Pakistan consider Japan as their second home, and the affection of the Japanese people towards Pakistan is highly commendable.

Barrister Wahab said that the municipal administration is in contact with Japanese companies for the improvement of the municipal system, while various initiatives are also being taken to promote tourism in Karachi. He invited Japanese investors to visit Karachi and assured them of full cooperation in all sectors.

He further said that they are keen to initiate joint projects with Japan in the fields of sewerage, biogas, and environmentally friendly energy. He added that efforts are underway to improve infrastructure in Karachi to attract international investment, and all possible facilities will be provided to investors.

The mayor also mentioned that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is working on a plan to send medical professionals to Japan for advanced training and experience.

On the occasion, Japanese Ambassador Akamatsu Shuichi said that he greatly admires Pakistan’s culture and feels at home in the country. He also invited the mayor of Karachi to visit Japan to further strengthen bilateral relations.
