Lady Willingdon MS, Gynae Dept head suspended

LAHORE : The Punjab government has suspended Lady Willingdon Hospital MS Dr Farah Inam and Head of Gynaecology Department Prof Dr Uzma Hussain for serious negligence in duties.

In addition, five PGRs and two charge nurses were also suspended and ordered to report to headquarters. Iqra Zahid, charge nurse, Fauzia Rasheed, charge nurse and Haseeb-ur-Rauf, cook (kitchen) of Lady Willingdon Hospital were removed from duty after suspension by taking action under the PEEDA Act.

The services of WMO Dr Iqra Hafeez have been repatriated to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department. The postgraduate training of Dr Amna Rasheed PGR has been suspended immediately till further orders for violating the code of conduct under clause 13.2 of the ‘Policy and Procedure Manual (PPM)’ of Level-III Programmes and directed to report to the headquarters.

Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that violation of SOPs in hospitals will not be tolerated under any circumstances, adding an immediate action was taken against those responsible when negligence was revealed at Lady Willingdon Hospital.

Secretary Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Azmat Mahmood said that such alleged actions represent violation of medical ethics, insult to the dignity of patients and violation of professional skills, which are strictly prohibited under government rules and hospital SOPs.
