KOHAT: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Kohat Irfan Khan Tariq has appreciated the exemplary unity between security forces and the public during the recent wave of terrorism in Kurram tribal district.
The RPO addressed grand jirgas of local elders in Sadda and Parachinar during his visit to the volatile district. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kurram Ashfaq Khan, District Police Officer (DPO) Kurram Malik Habib Khan, and senior officials of security forces.
The RPO said that the people’s support for the forces in difficult times reflected the defeat of elements inimical to peace.
He stressed the need to continue working together with the same spirit in the future and emphasised strengthening the system of community policing to curb crime and unrest at the local level.
The RPO also assured that efforts would be made to accelerate development projects in Kurram district and address deficiencies in basic facilities. He said the government was taking serious steps to overcome backwardness in the area.
Elders from both sects assured full cooperation with the administration and security forces, expressing their resolve not to allow any attempts to sabotage peace in the region.
