LAHORE : Jamaat-i-Islami Lahore Emir, Zia-ud-Din Ansari Advocate, has condemned the alarming rise in inflation and the extravagant expenditures of the ruling elite.

He expressed concern over the worsening economic conditions and emphasised that, given the financial challenges facing the country, it is imperative for the ruling class to adopt austerity in their lifestyles.

He added that the people are already burdened by inflation and financial pressure, and it is the govt’s responsibility to reduce personal expenses and avoid unnecessary luxuries. State resources, he said, are a trust of the public and must be used with responsibility and transparency.

President JI Youth Lahore, Jibran Butt, while addressing a protest demonstration against inflation on Mall Road, highlighted that petrol prices are soaring, while vegetables, pulses, and other essential commodities have become unaffordable for the common man.

He said the poor are being pushed towards hunger, transporters are charging excessive fares, and the inflation mafia is exploiting the public.

He alleged that the government remains limited to claims and promises, with no visible practical measures. He warned that if the government fails to provide relief, Jamaat will launch a campaign to mobilise the public.
