LAHORE:Regional Police Officer (RPO) Faisalabad Suhail Akhtar Sukhera has said that ensuring equal access to justice for all citizens particularly those without influence or recommendations remains a top priority of policing in the region, in line with the public service vision of Punjab’s leadership.

Speaking during an interview, he stated that the rights of the public are fully protected and that policing affairs are being conducted strictly on merit. He maintained that in his office, all citizens are treated equally according to law.

Highlighting the law and order situation, the RPO said crime in Faisalabad has witnessed a decline of approximately 70 percent from December 2025 to up till now, according to the verified data available with The News.

However, he identified shortage of manpower as a key challenge, particularly in view of the vast geographical spread of the region, which covers around 5,897 square kilometers—significantly larger than many major urban centres.

On the security of foreign nationals, including Chinese workers, Sukhera said that protection is being ensured in accordance with established SOPs, with continuous monitoring of security arrangements. Regarding illegal foreign nationals, he said repatriation efforts have been undertaken in coordination with relevant authorities, with community involvement to ensure smooth and lawful implementation. Discussing reforms, he stressed that real improvement lies in accessibility rather than reliance on technology alone. While acknowledging the use of modern tools and mobile-based systems, he pointed out that a large segment of the population still lacks access to such facilities.

The RPO underscored that human intelligence remains the backbone of effective policing. He noted that enhanced community engagement has strengthened information-sharing, contributing significantly to efforts against street crime and organised crime. He added that since December 2025, around 3,500 cases have been registered in actions against offences such as gambling and narcotics.

Addressing concerns over robbery and drug-related crimes, he said that public trust is critical, as it encourages citizens to share information without fear, ultimately strengthening law enforcement efforts.

On internal accountability, he stated that strict action has been taken in all verified cases of misconduct. Several officers, he said, have faced disciplinary proceedings in cases involving corruption, harassment, and abuse of authority, reinforcing a policy of zero tolerance. Referring to the protection of women, he said that under the vision of CM Punjab, cases of harassment or misconduct are dealt with firmly and without delay.

He further highlighted that while modern technology and policing tools are being utilised, they serve as support mechanisms, with community engagement remaining the cornerstone of policing strategy. On broader security challenges, including terrorism, the RPO said that close coordination is being maintained with religious scholars, local representatives, and minority communities. He emphasised that awareness, vigilance, and joint operations with relevant agencies are key to preventing threats. He reiterated that the fundamental objective of the police is to deliver justice and remain accessible to the public, adding that sustained trust between citizens and law enforcement is essential for maintaining durable peace and order.
