ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday rejected the claim attributed to Afghanistan’s so-called defence ministry or the spokesperson for the Afghan Taliban that Pakistan was violating a temporary ceasefire along the western border, terming it “frivolous”.
In a statement, the ministry said that allegations regarding Pakistan violating a temporary pause along the western border—initiated by Islamabad itself on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr—were “absolutely false”.
“No violation of the temporary pause has taken place along the western border by Pakistan,” the statement said, adding that such claims appeared to be propaganda.
The ministry suggested that the allegations could be the result of internal elements within the Afghan Taliban seeking to create a false pretext for hostile actions, including cross-border terrorism.
It further warned that regardless of the source of such claims, Pakistan had made its position clear: any act of terrorism, cross-border attack, or drone strike carried out by the Afghan Taliban or their proxies would lead to the immediate termination of the temporary pause.
“In such a case, Operation Ghazb lil-Haq will be resumed with renewed intensity,” the ministry added.
