Islamabad has dismissed as “ridiculous” claims by an Afghan Taliban spokesperson alleging a violation of the temporary suspension of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, according to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
"Pakistan has not violated any ceasefire. The Afghan authorities’ claims are baseless and based on falsehoods," the ministry said in a statement.
It said the purpose of such propaganda was to justify acts of terrorism and suggested it could also originate from dissenting elements within the Taliban regime.
"Pakistan has made clear that the temporary pause will end, after which any terrorist activity or cross-border attacks will be met with a strong response," it further stated.
The ministry noted that the decision to temporarily suspend the operation was made in view of Eid ul Fitr and at the request of friendly Islamic countries.
Earlier, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, in a post on X, said: “Upon its own initiative as well as on the request from the brotherly Islamic countries of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkiye, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has decided to announce temporary pause during the ongoing ‘Operation Ghazab lil-Haq’ against the terrorists and their support infrastructure in Afghanistan.”
He said the pause would be applicable from midnight March 18/19 to midnight March 23/24, 2026 and added that Pakistan offers this gesture in good faith and in keeping with the Islamic norms.
"However, in case of any cross-border attack, drone attack or any terrorist incident inside Pakistan, "Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq" shall immediately resume with renewed intensity," the minister said in the X post.
