ISLAMABAD: Zimbabwe T20 captain Sikandar Raza and emerging cricketer Maaz Khan have joined the Lahore Qalandars training camp currently underway in Islamabad, providing a timely boost to the squad ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Both players were originally scheduled to arrive on March 16, but their travel plans were disrupted due to flight operation issues, causing a brief delay in their inclusion in the camp. Maaz Khan, meanwhile, had been engaged in Zimbabwe’s domestic cricket season prior to linking up with the side.
The Qalandars have intensified preparations for the upcoming PSL season, set to commence on March 26, with the team management keen to fine-tune combinations and build momentum ahead of the tournament.
Welcoming the duo, Qalandars Chief Executive Officer Samin Rana termed Raza a key figure in the team’s setup. “Sikandar Raza is the pillar of Lahore Qalandars. It is an honour to have him back with us,” Rana said.
He also appreciated the Zimbabwean all-rounder’s commitment, adding, “I am grateful to Sikandar Raza for travelling from Harare in difficult circumstances. He has an important role in our team and played a significant part in Qalandars’ success last year.”
