LAHORE: Karachi Kings skipper David Warner expressed delight after his side’s thrilling five-wicket victory over RawalPindiz in the 10th match of PSL 11 at the Gaddafi Stadium. The win, powered by Azam Khan’s explosive 74 off 34 balls, lifted Karachi to the top of the points table with six points.

Speaking after the match, Warner lauded the collective effort. “Feels great to be here. Tonight was a fantastic result for us, and the way the boys played was outstanding. I think 200-plus was probably a par total on that wicket, but the way our bowlers operated through the middle was fantastic,” he said.

RawalPindiz had built a strong foundation through the partnership of Daryl Mitchell and Sam Billings, but Warner credited his bowlers for keeping the chase manageable. “They had a solid foundation with a good partnership, which is always hard to pull back, but we saw a fantastic innings,” he added.

Warner emphasized the importance of experience in the squad and the collaborative approach to captaincy. “I’ve captained a lot of franchises around the world, and it’s just great to have that artillery available.

The guys have been bowling very well. The best thing is the experience in this team; I’m using their knowledge, and our bowling changes are a group decision, not just mine. We’re gelling really well together.”

Karachi’s bowling attack, led by Hasan Ali’s three wickets, played a crucial role in restricting RawalPindiz to 197 despite their strong middle-order surge. Warner reserved special praise for Azam Khan, whose innings turned the game decisively in Karachi’s favor. “That was fantastic. He just needed to come out with intent and play his way. We know what he’s capable of, and he certainly knows it too. To see him come off tonight and bat in the middle like that is going to hold him in good stead for the rest of the tournament,” Warner said.

Azam’s innings was marked by power and resilience, surviving three dropped catches before punishing RawalPindiz with six fours and six sixes. His partnership with Warner ensured Karachi stayed ahead of the required rate, and his dismissal late in the chase did not prevent the Kings from sealing victory.
