Islamabad:In anticipation of the heavy influx of shoppers leading up to Eidul Fitr, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has rolled out a comprehensive integrated traffic management plan to maintain order and safety across the capital’s major commercial hubs.
According to the new directive, 470 traffic officers have been deployed specifically to markets and shopping centers to facilitate citizens while curbing dangerous driving behaviors that typically surge during the festive season.
While the department has emphasized a service-oriented approach, officials warned that there will be zero tolerance for activities that endanger the public, noting that strict legal action will be taken against one-wheeling, car drifting, street racing, and other forms of reckless stunts or hooliganism.
Recognizing the festive spirit, the department stated that enforcement will be limited and strategic until Eid, as officers have been instructed to prioritize public education and assistance over the issuance of citations.
A spokesperson for the Islamabad Traffic Police remarked that the force shares in the joy of the citizens during this festive time and aims to provide a seamless shopping experience by offering guidance to ensure traffic remains fluid.
To avoid congestion and ensure a hassle-free experience, the police have issued an advisory urging shoppers to park vehicles only in designated parking areas, warning that double-parking or obstructing main arteries will result in the immediate removal of the vehicle.
