LAHORE:The CM Punjab Energy Saving Cycling Ride 2026 was held in Central Business District (CBD), drawing more than 500 participants, including boys, girls, men, women, and children.
The 10-kilometer ride created a vibrant family-friendly atmosphere and highlighted the importance of energy conservation and environmental protection.Punjab Minister for Energy, Sports and Youth Affairs, Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, led the ride alongside senior officials, including Secretary Sports Punjab M Ali, SBP Vice Chairman Suleman Malik and DG Sports Punjab M Tariq Qureshi.
Speaking to the media, Faisal Khokhar emphasised that cycling is a healthy activity that not only saves energy but also protects the environment. He reiterated that attracting the younger generation toward sports and positive activities is a top priority for the government.
He also announced that after Eid, Punjab Sports Department will host its largest Punjab Marathon, followed by the province’s biggest sports festival, the Khelta Punjab Games, where cycling will be included as a major event. “We are planning to organize mega cycling races in other major cities as well, with top performers to be enrolled in the Punjab Sports Endowment Fund”.The minister noted that 2026 has been declared the ‘Year of Youth’, with the Punjab Sports Department set to organise a mega sports event every month.
