A suspected robber was killed by a citizen in a shooting that took place in Federal B Area on Monday afternoon. Two robbers riding a motorcycle and their accomplice on foot were stopping a woman at gunpoint near a private school at Gulshan Chowrangi on Rashid Minhas Road in the Samanabad police remit when a citizen nearby opened fire with his licensed pistol, injuring one of the robbers.

The injured robber, identified as 25-year-old Salman, hid himself at a place but police found and arrested him soon after. He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died. The female accomplice was arrested and identified as Neha, while police are conducting raids in search for the third robber, Akbar.

During the initial interrogation, Neha said she is ex-wife of Akbar, who had formed a three-member gang with her and Salman. The three used to take the ice drug and then commit crime riding the same motorcycle in different areas of Federal B Area, she said, adding that she carried a pistol in her purse.

She further disclosed that she and Akbar lived in New Karachi and Salman was a resident of Liaquatabad. Neha was divorced by her first husband two years ago, and she married Akbar a year and a half ago.

She said Akbar divorced her a month ago but they were still living together. A month ago, Akbar rented a house in Ayub Goth, New Karachi, and he used to get drunk with the money looted during incidents, she said. Samanabad SHO Inspector Zubair Awan said the person killed in the shooting was a robber.
