A tragic accident occurred near Korangi Singer Chowrangi when a speeding water tanker ran over two women pedestrians, killing a 40-year-old mother and injuring her 12-year-old daughter. Both victims, residents of Korangi Awami Colony, were immediately rushed to Jinnah Hospital, where the mother was pronounced dead.
The deceased has been identified as Zubaida Khanum, wife of Hussain, and the injured girl as Koneen. After the accident, enraged locals set the water tanker on fire. The tanker driver, Faqir, tried to flee but was caught by the citizens, beaten, and handed over to the Pakistan Rangers. Police arrived at the scene and summoned the fire brigade, which extinguished the fire, although the front part of the tanker was completely damaged.
The driver has been handed over to the Awami Colony Police Station for further legal action. An FIR has been registered by the husband of the deceased, Muhammad Hussain, and the investigation is ongoing.
Separately, another accident occurred near Manghopir Northern Bypass Orangi Morr, involving a Mazda truck and a rickshaw, leaving seven people, including women and children, injured. The victims were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment. Police confirmed that the truck driver fled the scene and a search is underway. Authorities have urged citizens to drive carefully and remain vigilant on busy city roads.
