MULTAN: Quds Day was observed in Multan on Friday on the call of Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, chief of the Shia Ulema Council (SUC), with rallies and gatherings organised in different parts of the city.

During Friday prayer congregations, the speakers condemned the suffering of Palestinians and reiterated support for the Palestinian cause, while also criticising Israeli policies in the region. A protest rally organised by the SUC Multan district started from Nawan Shahr Chowk and was led by SUC district president Allama Ghazanfar Ali Haideri, along with Allama Syed Ali Sajjad Naqvi, Basharat Abbas Qureshi, Anees Haider Naqvi, Syed Zahoor Hussain Shamsi and Mehr Shahid Abbas. Addressing the participants, the speakers said that the observance of Quds Day aimed to highlight the importance of Masjid Al-Aqsa, regarded as the first Qibla in Islamic tradition, and to express solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle for self-determination.

They urged the international community, including the United Nations and human rights organisations, to take notice of the humanitarian situation in Gaza and work towards ensuring peace and justice in the region. The rally concluded with a collective prayer for unity and peace led by Maulana Hussain Bakhsh Sarwari.

LALAMUSA: Marking the International Quds Day, a protest rally was taken out from Katchery Chowk to the Gujrat Press Club under the joint banner of the Milli Yakjehti Council Jamaat-e-Islami and Shia Ulema Council.

The rally was organised after the prayers of Jumatul Wida, the last Friday of Ramazan, and was attended by a large number of people who chanted slogans and carried placards expressing solidarity with Palestinians. The procession passed through the city’s main roads and was led by several local religious and political figures, including Agha Mubarak Mousavi, Allama Asghar Yazdani, Mir Jawad Jafari, Asif Raza Naqvi and Chaudhry Zakir Manzoor Hussain. Addressing the gathering, Jamaat-e-Islami Northern Punjab Amir Dr Tariq Saleem criticised Western policies in the Middle East and expressed support for the Palestinian cause. He said Muslims across the world should remain united and continue raising their voice against oppression.

The speakers also emphasised the importance of unity among Muslim countries and urged the international community to play its role in ensuring peace and justice in the region. A similar rally was also held in Lalamusa, where participants marched from the Markazi Imambargah on Railway Road to the GT Road. Demonstrators reiterated their support for the Palestinian people and called for the protection of holy sites including Masjid Al-Aqsa.
