LAHORE:Senior Warden of hostel of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, has resigned from his administrative post following the incident that sparked strong reaction from students and the general public.
According to a UET spokesperson, hostel warden said he was ready for accountability and would present his position before the inquiry committee. He explained that out of 1,998 female hostel residents, more than 99 percent had already returned home, and the dispute arose only because a small group of students at Tariq Hall refused to vacate. He added that security concerns and closure of the hostel mess had made it necessary to clear the facility.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Munir has ordered an inquiry into the matter, assuring that the dignity and safety of students will be protected. The committee includes Prof Dr Naveed Ramzan (Director Studies) as convener, Prof Dr Farhan Saeed, Dr Amna Niazi (Director Student Affairs), and the President of Zimal (UET Girls Society) as student representative. The committee has been tasked with conducting a transparent investigation and submitting its findings to the administration.
