The recent developments in the Middle East have put a lot of pressure on the global economy and the price of crude oil has surged across the world. With Pakistan importing the vast majority of its oil and gas, it is very exposed to such energy shocks.
Pakistan must empower local oil companies and try to boost domestic exploration, extraction and production of oil and gas. We must also focus on developing big dams in order to build up our renewable energy capacity. This will also help the country reduce its import bill.
