Some useful lessons and conclusions can be drawn from the ongoing war in the Middle East, which is now almost two weeks old. Iran has now affirmed and solidified its place as a key military power in the Muslim world despite not having an air force or a nuclear arsenal. The myth of Israeli invincibility has also been shattered. The Israeli military machine and its intelligence outfit stand over-rated and they cannot sustain a war on their own strength. There also seems to be a limit to American power and it has been vividly exposed. The will of a nation to fight is more important than modern weaponry and the resilience of the Iranian nation has been a surprise for many. Meanwhile, the US cannot afford a prolonged conflict in the region.
