QUETTA: Sarfraz Bugti has formally launched an Electric Bikes Scheme in the province, marking a significant step toward promoting modern, affordable and environmentally friendly transportation. The initiative aims to provide improved and low-cost commuting facilities to students, working women and the general public in order to make daily travel easier and more efficient.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, the chief minister said that the Government of Balochistan is taking serious measures to provide modern transport facilities to the public, and the Electric Bikes Scheme is an important step in that direction. He said that under the scheme, electric bikes will be provided to students, working women and ordinary citizens on easy installments so they can access better transportation for their educational, professional and daily activities.

Bugti emphasised that the government will ensure complete transparency and merit in the distribution of electric bikes under the scheme. He said the selection of applicants will be conducted through a transparent balloting process, and citizens from any district of the province will be able to submit applications online so that the maximum number of deserving individuals can benefit from the facility.

The chief minister said that the electric bikes will have a travel range of 70 to 100 kilometers, which will be highly useful for students, employees and other citizens. He added that the scheme will not only provide affordable and reliable transportation but will also help conserve fuel and protect the environment.

He further stated that the government is also considering launching a project of electric loaders in the next phase to facilitate the working class. Practical progress is underway in this regard so that small businesses and self-employed individuals can also benefit from modern and low-cost transport.

Bugti reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to providing modern facilities to the public, promoting environmentally friendly transportation and ensuring sustainable development in the province.

The ceremony was also attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Mir Liaquat Lehri, provincial ministers, members of the Balochistan Assembly, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan and other relevant officials.
