A newly married woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her house in Azizabad near Safa Masjid on Monday. The body was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where she was identified as 23-year-old Ayesha, wife of Mohit.
The police said the deceased had married Mohit about four and a half months ago. Earlier, she had been married to Mohit’s elder brother, but after his death, she was married to the younger brother.
According to the Azizabad police, the husband told investigators that his wife had locked the bathroom door from inside, stood on a plastic chair, and hanged herself using a dupatta. However, when the police reached the house, they found that the crime scene had already been cleaned.
The chair was not present in the bathroom, and the dupatta had been thrown away, which the police later recovered. The police said the incident appeared suspicious, and a post-mortem examination was being conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Further investigation is underway
