DIR: Speakers at a function here on Sunday underlined the role of women in social development and the national uplift of the country.
The ceremony was arranged by the District Youth Office in collaboration with Muslim Hands and the Upper Dir district administration to mark the International Women’s Day. The organisers said the purpose of the event was to recognise women’s achievements and promote their empowerment in Dir.
The event featured speeches, tableaux and stalls showcasing handmade items and sketches highlighting women’s achievements.
Students presented various performances and exhibits showcasing women’s empowerment and contributions.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Sher Ali Khan, who was the chief guest, said Islam had given great importance to women in society.
“Women play a vital role in every sphere of life, be it as a mother, wife, sister or daughter. They are contributing to the development of society, from home to professional fields,” he added.
Project Manager of Muslim Hands Inamullah Khan assured continued support for empowering girl students and promoting their participation in various fields.
SRSP District Programme Manager Murad Khan thanked District Youth Officer Shahzad Tariq and Muslim Hands for organising the event. Certificates, cash prizes, shields and gifts were distributed among the participants and guests. Notable among the recipients were Zaryab Khan, Luqman Adil and Madina Ikram.
