PESHAWAR: The police on Friday foiled a bid to rob a bank in the limits of Michni Gate Police Station during which an additional station house officer and other cops sustained injuries in an exchange of fire with the robbers.
The wounded policemen exchanged fire with criminals in the limits of Michni Gate Police Station to foil the bank robbery. Three armed robbers had stormed a bank in Pir Bala near the Michni Gate Police Station but the cops arrived within no time and challenged the armed robbers, triggering an exchange of fire.
An official said the encounter continued for some time during which additional SHO Bahar Ali fought bravely despite the fact that he had received five bullets. Other cops also continued fire despite being hit by bullets. The robbers then managed to escape without collecting any cash. The wounded cops were rushed to a hospital. Senior police officials praised the bravery of the cops who were seen in CVTV despite the robbers firing.
