Iran’s Consul General in Karachi Akbar Eissa Zadeh has said the Iranian people are united to protect and safeguard their homeland from foreign invasion.

Speaking to politicians, journalists and other citizens, who visited the Iranian Consulate on Friday to offer condolences over the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s and his associates, the consul general said that Iran has the full legal and diplomatic right to defend its national sovereignty.

He accused the United States of staging negotiations through friendly countries while simultaneously deploying naval fleets in the region. The consul general said that the United States and Israel had carried out a unilateral attack on Iran in disregard of international laws. He said the aggression resulted in the martyrdom of many innocent civilians, including 168 children.

Responding to a question, he stated that this was the second time Iran had been attacked in a surprise assault. He emphasized that Iran would continue the war until its objectives were achieved and maintained that Iran considered it its right to target American and Israeli assets wherever they existed.

Consul General Zadeh further alleged that both the US and Israel had also targeted innocent civilians. He criticised the United Nations for remaining silent over the aggression and said Muslim countries were also failing to fulfil their responsibilities.

He added that the enemy’s objective was to divide the Muslim world, but Muslim countries should demonstrate unity and solidarity. Replying to another question, he said that the war had been ongoing for eight days, adding that the US and Israel had “captured the media narrative.” He dispelled the negative propaganda by US President Donald Trump that Iran had been destroyed, and said that in reality public morale in Iran remained high and daily life was continuing as normal.

The consul general said it was unfortunate that Muslim countries were not united at a time when unity was most needed. He appreciated Pakistan for supporting Iran’s stance and condemning the aggression. He also thanked Pakistani religious scholars and people from different walks of life who had spoken in support of Iran, saying that rallies in Pakistan had boosted the morale of the Iranian people.

The Consulate General of Iran had opened a condolence and memorial book at its premises from Wednesday to Friday for condolence messages on the martyrdom of supreme leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Iranian women and children.
