LAHORE:With the assistance of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), a gang involved in defrauding citizens at ATMs has been busted.
According to a spokesperson for the authority, the suspects targeted a citizen at a private bank’s ATM in Faisal Town by pretending that his card had been blocked. The suspects first staged a failed transaction and observed the citizen’s PIN. They then swapped his ATM card and later withdrew cash from his account before fleeing the scene. The spokesperson stated that the affected citizen immediately informed PSCA by calling Emergency Helpline -15. A Safe City Virtual Patrolling Officer traced the suspects’ movements through citywide surveillance camera network, where they were spotted on various roads across the city. Owing to timely action of PSCA and the police, the suspects were arrested and a case was registered against them.
