HYDERABAD: Sindh Minister for Education Syed Sardar Ali Shah has taken notice of the collapse of a roof at Government Elementary School Ali Memon located in Bhiria City, District Naushehro Feroze, and sought a detailed report on the incident.

The minister asked why repair work was not carried out despite the release of a school-specific budget. According to official information, 463,000 rupees had already been released for the school under the school-specific budget.

The minister observed that failure to ensure timely repairs reflected negligence on the part of the headmaster. He warned that strict action would be taken against the headmaster if negligence was proven.

Separately, the education minister visited Dr NA Baloch Model School at the University of Sindh, which he attended as a former student. Upon arrival, he was received by Vice Chancellor Dr Fatah Muhammad Marri and the principal of the model school. During the visit, the minister met with teachers and inspected various sections of the school.

Speaking on the occasion, Shah said he had many cherished memories associated with the institution. He sat on a classroom bench and recalled his student days, remarking that it had taken him 30 years to revisit the school, which he described as his misfortune.

He noted that three former students of the school are currently serving as ministers in the Sindh cabinet. He said Sharjeel Inam Memon and Jam Khan Shoro are also among the alumni of the model school.

The minister further stated that several prominent personalities had been associated with the institution, including Allama II Qazi, who had resided there. He pledged to preserve the historical legacy of the school and said the building’s historical character would be maintained in its original condition. The Sindh government, he added, would extend full support for the complete conservation of the building.
