BARA: The Department of Agriculture (Extension) on Tuesday distributed certified saplings of guava, oranges, apricot, pear and other quality fruit plants among farmers to promote the establishment of modern orchards, enhance agricultural productivity, and ensure stable income generation for growers.
The ceremony was held at the Jamrud Tehsil office. A large number of landowners and farmers from across the district attended the event.Additional Secretary Agriculture Dil Nawaz Wazir, Director General Agriculture Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Naveed, Regional Director Seed Certification Inayatullah Khan, Assistant Commissioner Jamrud Khayam Nasir, District Director Agriculture (Extension) Khyber Zia-ul-Salam Dawar, along with officials of the Agriculture Department, local political leaders and social figures, attended the ceremony.
Shafiq Afridi, a representative of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi; Tehsil Chairman Azmat Khan; Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Jamrud chapter President Ishtiaq Afridi; Chairman Abdul Mannan Afridi; and Gauhar Afridi were also present.
Addressing the ceremony, Additional Secretary Agriculture Dil Nawaz Wazir said the provincial government was taking practical steps to ensure farmers’ prosperity and agricultural self-sufficiency. He added that the agricultural sector in the merged districts was being modernized along scientific lines.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing certified seeds and saplings, technical guidance, and promoting modern farming techniques to economically strengthen farmers.The director general of Agriculture Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the district director of Agriculture (Extension) Khyber shed light on the ongoing departmental schemes, the promotion of modern horticulture, provision of certified plants, and technical support for farmers.
The officials stated that all available resources were being utilized to ensure sustainable economic stability for growers in Khyber district.Shafiq Afridi, representative of the chief minister, said the government was committed to addressing farmers’ issues and improving their economic conditions, assuring full cooperation in overcoming existing challenges.
He emphasized that tree plantation not only serves as a source of valuable fruit production but also constitutes a lasting charitable act, contributing to environmental sustainability and food security for future generations.
