LAHORE:Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA) and the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) reached an agreement on strengthening institutional collaboration and establishing a structured coordination mechanism to curb food adulteration and forgery effectively.
Director General of Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA) Dr Talat Naseer Pasha visited the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) headquarters on Tuesday to review food safety enforcement and regulatory mechanisms across the province on Tuesday.
During the visit, he held a detailed meeting with PFA DG Asim Javed and received a comprehensive briefing on province-wide operations, administrative structure, field enforcement strategy, and the regulatory framework of the authority.
DG Asim highlighted key performance indicators, noting a significant increase in sampling, inspections, and enforcement actions during the current two-year tenure. The delegation was also briefed on the PFA Act, Punjab Pure Food Rules, and licensing procedures.
The visiting team toured the food testing laboratory, where modern analytical systems, quality assurance protocols, and testing procedures were demonstrated. Dr Talat appreciated the authority’s performance and targeted initiatives.
