The fourth Mobile Urgent Care (MUC) unit has been inaugurated to provide basic healthcare services to disaster-affected and underprivileged communities in rural Sindh.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the residence of Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Chairman of AKD Group on Monday. The state-of-the-art 20-foot clinic-on-wheels had been developed with the support of AKD Group and Shine Humanity.
Shine Humanity’s MUC units had served as a cornerstone of the organisation’s emergency response and rural healthcare strategy since the devastating floods of 2022. Designed to reach hard-to-access areas and deliver immediate medical assistance, these mobile clinics reflected a practical commitment to serving communities that were often deprived of basic facilities.
The mobile units were staffed with certified doctors, trained medical personnel, essential medicines and diagnostic equipment, enabling them to provide prompt and effective healthcare services directly at the community’s doorstep.
The newly launched unit would travel across the districts of Badin, Sujawal and Tharparkar, delivering urgent medical care to communities where healthcare facilities were extremely limited or nonexistent. Over the past year, Shine Humanity’s existing MUC units had provided basic medical services to more than 23,000 individuals in rural Sindh, including in Gharo, Sujawal, Thatta, Mirpur Sakro and Makli.
On the occasion, Faheem Khan, CEO of Shine Humanity, said that through the new MUC unit, the organisation was extending healthcare services beyond cities and paved roads, directly reaching communities that need them the most. Dhedhi expressed hope for the initiative’s success and continued growth, adding that they seek guidance from Allah at every step so that the effort proves beneficial for the community.
