LAHORE:The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) on Monday issued a public alert after receiving multiple complaints about fraudulent e-challan SMS messages being circulated to citizens from unauthorised numbers.

According to a PSCA spokesperson, scammers are sending fake e-Challan notifications from the number 8070 in an attempt to deceive the public. He clarified that official e-Challan SMS notifications are sent exclusively from the government of Punjab’s designated number 9915.

The spokesperson emphasised that Safe City officials never demand cash payments, bank account details, or debit/credit card information through SMS. Citizens were strongly advised not to click on suspicious links or make payments via unverified websites. He said that an authentic e-challan message always contains complete details of the violation, including the time, location and nature of the traffic offence. The authority urged citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious or fraudulent messages by calling the Emergency Helpline 15 or contacting the FIA Cyber Crime Wing.
