LAHORE: Former international umpire Aleem Dar has stepped down from Pakistan’s national selection committee, becoming the first member to resign in the wake of the team’s disappointing T20 World Cup 2026 campaign.
According to sources, Dar submitted his resignation citing concerns over the national side’s declining results. His departure is being viewed as the first major shake-up within the selection setup, reflecting the growing pressure on team management and selectors to account for repeated failures at ICC events.
The Pakistan World Cup campaign ended with widespread criticism of the team’s tactical approach, leadership, and preparation. No official statement has yet been issued regarding Dar’s replacement or further changes within the committee. However, his resignation is expected to trigger broader discussions within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about accountability, selection policies, and the future direction of the team.
