LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League 11 continues with one of its most anticipated fixtures as Lahore Qalandars host Peshawar Zalmi in Match 38 at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday night.

With playoff spots still up for grabs, the game carries contrasting stakes: Lahore fighting for survival and Peshawar aiming to consolidate their dominance. Currently Lahore Qalandars, the defending champions have endured a turbulent campaign, sitting fifth with just 8 points and a net run rate of -0.558. Their batting has collapsed twice in recent matches — bowled out for 100 against Islamabad and 97 against Peshawar. Fakhar Zaman’s suspension and Parvez Hossain Emon’s injury have left the side fragile.

Peshawar Zalmi, the Babar Azam’s team are the form side of PSL 2026, unbeaten and top of the table with 9 points and a staggering NRR of +3.103. Their batting has been led by Kusal Mendis (309 runs, tournament’s top scorer) and Babar himself (212 runs at 70.66). Their bowling, spearheaded by Sufiyan Muqeem (10 wickets at 9.90), has been equally dominant.

In PSL history, Peshawar hold a slight edge with 12 wins to Lahore’s 10. In their earlier meeting this season (Match 19), Zalmi crushed Lahore by 76 runs, bowling them out for just 97. That psychological advantage rests firmly with Peshawar.

The hunch of Lahore Qalandars is their skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi – 10 wickets at 12.20, but needs support. Fakhar Zaman – explosive opener, vital for Lahore’s batting revival. And Haris Rauf – death overs specialist, crucial alongside Shaheen.

In Peshawar Zalmi lineup, Kusal Mendis is the PSL’s leading run-scorer, destructive in the powerplay. Babar Azam – anchor and tactician, recently crossed 4,000 PSL runs.anf lately, Sufiyan Muqeem with his wrist spinner could dismantle Lahore in their last meeting.

The Gaddafi Stadium offers a flat, batting-friendly surface with consistent bounce. Evening conditions (32–35°C) will be cooler than the afternoon, with dew likely to play a role in the second innings, making chasing easier. Pacers may find swing early, while spinners could struggle if dew sets in.

Lahore’s desperation could inspire a fightback, especially if Fakhar Zaman fires and Shaheen-Haris strike early. But Peshawar’s superior form, depth, and psychological edge make them clear favourites.
