Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday expressed deep sorrow and concern over the tragic events reported from Iran and stated that the people of Sindh stood united with Iran and all bereaved families during this difficult time.
He also expressed grief over what he said a very unfortunate incident near the US Consulate in Karachi, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives. He instructed the authorities to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation to establish the facts.
Emphasising the sensitive situation in the country, the CM said that Pakistan faced a challenging and tense environment, and any attempt to disrupt peace and order would be unacceptable. “This is a time that demands restraint and responsibility. The government will not allow anyone to take the law into their own hands,” he asserted.
In this regard, the CM contacted prominent religious leaders, including Allama Shehanshah Naqvi, Allama Shabbir Meesami and others, asking them to help keep public emotions calm and guide people towards patience and peace.
The religious leaders assured the CM that gatherings and religious events would be held peacefully and in an orderly manner. Based on this assurance, he directed the administration and police to ensure full security arrangements. The CM also called upon scholars and members of all schools of thought to promote harmony and unity, emphasising that maintaining law and order was a shared responsibility.
Expressing sorrow over the lives lost in the consulate incident, Shah reiterated that protecting the citizens’ lives and property remains the government’s top priority. He instructed the law enforcement agencies to stay vigilant and maintain peace throughout the city.
“The safety of the public is our foremost responsibility,” the CM said, urging citizens to cooperate with the government in upholding law and order.
Meanwhile, Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah expressed grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and stated that the recent attacks on Iran were extremely tragic and condemnable.
In a video statement, he said Pakistan was providing every possible moral support to Iran and respected the sentiments of all. He appealed to the people of Pakistan to show patience and restraint, warning that turning peaceful protests into violence within the country would only benefit the enemy.
He stated that Pakistan had supported Iran at every level and made efforts at the United Nations and other diplomatic forums to prevent the war. He prayed for mercy for the Iranian martyrs, and patience and strength for the bereaved families.
