Wasa orders immediate covering of open manholes

Rawalpindi:The newly-appointed Managing Director of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi, Azizullah Khan, has given a deadline of completing the ongoing projects under the Punjab Development Program by June and directed to immediately cover all the manholes of the city and take action against illegal connections.

He expressed these views in an introductory meeting with the officers after assuming charge of WASA as MD. The meeting was attended by Deputy Managing Directors, Directors, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors and Sub-Engineers.

With instructions to improve service delivery, MD WASA took a detailed review of the ongoing projects and field operations of water supply, sewage and drainage in Rawalpindi city and directed the officers that the provision of uninterrupted and quality facilities to the citizens should be the top priority.

He added that immediate redressal of complaints, regular de-silting of sewerage lines, timely repair of manholes and full functionality of disposal stations should be ensured at all costs. He clarified that the presence of officers in the field should be increased, an effective monitoring system should be adopted and every officer should fulfill his responsibility in a good manner. He said that public trust will be further strengthened through improvement in the performance of the institution, transparency and teamwork.
