ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Spokesperson Shazia Marri has strongly reacted to the recent statements by certain federal ministers, terming them “irresponsible” and accusing them of fueling unrest and uncertainty.

“The federal government Should clarify its position regarding the conduct of its ministers, warning that silence would only embolden elements seeking to spread discord,” she said in a statement on Monday.

Shazia Marri also urged the Prime Minister to take immediate notice of the statements made by members of his cabinet and ensure responsible conduct. She maintained that some federal ministers were promoting division and disorder through their remarks, which she described as highly inappropriate and detrimental to national cohesion. Shazia Marri asserted that Karachi is and will always remain a part of Sindh, adding that those advocating division were deliberately attempting to create instability and disrupt the environment. Such statements, she warned, could undermine national unity. Referring to the resolution tabled in the Sindh Assembly, Shazia Marri maintained that it was presented strictly in accordance with the Constitution and the rules of procedure of the assembly.

She emphasised that in a parliamentary system, a resolution reflects the collective opinion of the House, and expressing such collective will is a constitutional and democratic right of elected representatives. Shazia Marri further stated that federal ministers are expected to possess a basic understanding of the Constitution and parliamentary rules. “They are required to demonstrate responsibility and constitutional adherence, not incitement,” she said, cautioning that irresponsible statements could pose a threat to national harmony and stability.
