Two killed in road accidents

Two people, including a woman, lost their lives in separate road accidents in different parts of the city on Friday.

A 40-year-old female pedestrian was killed in a road accident near the Kala Pul Defence A-Market single iron bridge within the jurisdiction of the Defence police station. The body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities.

The deceased was identified as Sinha, wife of Yousuf. The police said the victim was reportedly the spouse of a law enforcement personnel. According to SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi, the woman was hit by a speeding car. The police arrested the young driver, identified as Riyan Saeed, son of Irfan Saeed, and took the vehicle into custody.

In another accident within the limits of the New Town police station, Karachi, a man was killed in a road accident near a private hospital on National Stadium Road. The body was transported to the JPMC.

The deceased was identified as 46-year-old Khalil Akhtar, son of Rahim Bakhsh. The police said he was riding a motorcycle when he was struck by a speeding unidentified vehicle, resulting in his death. Further investigation is underway.
